The words we speak are keys to understand our personality.
“You will not get my hate” claims Antoine LEIRIS in his open letter on his Facebook page to the terrorists responsible for the attacks of November 13th 2015, in which his wife died. A strong statement relayed by the national daily press .
A phrase which, however, awakens questions in the media of behavioral analysis: is the purpose of the man consistent with the picture that accompanies it ?
I let the body language professionals discuss this point. Because, to me, the words are an indication of the man’s psychology.
In the case of Mr. Leiris, and without diving into a comprehensive approach, it is possible to detect three trends :
1 – The man is positioning in a removal of the pain process. Sigmund Freud explained that our it, representing our instinctive desires, brings us closer to what is pleasant and we us away from what we painful. But each individual, depending on culture, education and values, favors one or the other approaches. The psychological process of Mr. LEIRIS favors expulsion, in this case, generated by an unpleasant feeling: hatred. This means that, in its daily life, and regardless of the painful event that strikes him, the man tends, whatever the context, to notice what is wrong, what is missing, the weak point in the armor. As a result, this man will be driven more by the prospect of what he has to lose in a given situation, be it a professional situation, sentimental or otherwise. In this case, the values he wishes to teach his son.
2 – The man is positioning in a self referenced process. The key to the assessment of the situations he faces and his decision-making lies in his own criteria. He therefore leaves little room for influence by his external environment, and do not feel the need to seek the approval of his relatives to decide and act. In a professional context, it may be difficult to manager, unless his work requires autonomy.
3 – The man communicates in an informative mode. From there, it is possible to conclude that his work involves contact with others: teacher, counselor, HR manager or investigation skills, like a market researcher, a detective, a police officer… or a journalist.
